Why Make a Will in Singapore?
A Will gives you an opportunity to set out your wishes for the distribution of assets that form part of your estate. It can also identify the person you want to administer your estate and, where appropriate, appoint a testamentary guardian for your children.
If you die without a valid Will, the administration and distribution of your estate will generally follow the applicable intestacy rules instead. Where there is a valid Will, the named executor can apply for a Grant of Probate to administer the estate. Where there is no valid Will, eligible beneficiaries may need to apply for Letters of Administration.
